Collections
The collection of the Lopez Museum and Library is rooted in the founder’s desire to create a FIlipiniana resource center that would enable research about the Philippines, its history, culture and people. With a particular focus on early Philippine history, LML has an excellent collection of rare maps and manuscripts from the 16th century onwards and periodicals from the 19th and early 20th century. Complementing these are excavated Philippine pottery and monographic collections of the first two internationally recognized Filipino painters, Juan Luna and Felix Resurrection Hidalgo, as well as compendium of personal artefacts of the National Hero Jose Rizal. Over the years, the collection has developed to include Philippine visual arts and literature of the 20th and 21st centuries.
