Manila Chronicle Photograph Collection
The Manila Chronicle was a broadsheet newspaper publication that began in 1945, later purchased by Eugenio Lopez, Sr.. It was forced to close down in 1972 during the period of martial law under President Ferdinand Marcos, resuming operations in 1986 until 1998. The photographs preserved in the library’s holdings showcase some of the best examples of postwar photojournalism.

It was founded in 1938, briefly closing during the period of Japanese Occupation (1942-1945), and continued producing movies until 1961 when it switched to post-production.
